Kamenski wins 400 hurdles at PAC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Westminster College senior Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, Pa., Karns City) raced to a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles Friday at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 

The PAC Championships were held at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park, the home of the West Virginia University track and field and cross country programs, Thursday and Friday. 

Grove City College won its second-straight team title at the 19-event championship, finishing with 164 points. Washington & Jefferson College was the runner-up with 146. Westminster finished in sixth place with 67. 

Kamenski won the 400 hurdles with a personal-best time of 54.31 seconds, edging W&J's Ian Baughman by one one-hundredth of a second. Kamenski also finished as the runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27. 

Freshman Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) was fifth in the 110 hurdles with a personal-best time of 16.07, sixth in the 100 meters with a personal-best time of 11.16 and seventh in the long jump (6.22m, 20-05.00).

Freshman Matthew Essey (Aliquippa, Pa. , Hopewell) finished fifth in the long jump (6.49m, 21-03.50) while classmate Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) was sixth in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 13.49 meters (44-03.25) and sixth in the discus (40.34m, 132-04.00). Freshman Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was eighth in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:00.22 and classmate Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) finished eighth in the shot put (13.38m, 43-10.75).

The 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays both scored third-place finishes. Kamenski, Essey, sophomore Benjamin White (Warren, Pa., Warren) and Mull posted a season-best time of 42.89 in the 400 relay. The 1600 relay, made up of Kamenski, Jones, Essey and Mull, registered a season-best time of 3:28.66. 

Junior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) was named to the league's sportsmanship team.
