Manos fifth in javelin at PAC Championships

Westminster men seventh after first day of Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Westminster College sophomore Mason Manos (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) recorded a personal-best throw to finish in fifth place in the javelin Thursday afternoon at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 

The two-day championship event is being held at Mylan Park, the home of West Virginia University track and field. 

Five scored events were contested Thursday. Grove City College tops the team leaderboard with 73 points. Washington & Jefferson College is second with 44 points. Westminster is in seventh place with six points.

Manos posted a top throw of 51.25 meters (168-01). 

Sophomore Jalen Ritzert (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) finished seventh in the pole vault, clearing 3.45 meters (11-03.75). 

Senior Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, Pa., Karns City) qualified for the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, posting the second-fastest time in the preliminaries (15.31). The 110 hurdle finals are set for 3:10 p.m. Friday. 

Freshman Jake Mull (Apollo, Pa., Apollo-Ridge) finished with a time of 16.13 in the preliminaries of the 110 hurdles and posted a time of 11.18 in the preliminaries of the 100 meters. He has qualified for the finals in both events. The 100 finals are scheduled for 3:50 p.m. Friday. 

Fourteen event finals are scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. Friday.
