Ritzert runner-up at West Liberty

Kamenski posts pair of top-five finishes at Carnegie Mellon

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Sophomore Jalen Ritzert (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) registered a runner-up finish in the decathlon to highlight the Westminster College men's outdoor track and field program's split squad performances Saturday at West Liberty University's Third Annual Tim Weaver Invitational and the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational.

At West Liberty, Ritzert totaled 4,756 points during the two-day, 10-event decathlon program. In fourth place following Friday's five events, Ritzert won the 1500 meters (4:57.36) on Saturday and finished second in the javelin (41.93m, 137-06) and the discus (25.01m, 82-00), third in the pole vault (3.22m, 10-06.75) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (18.83). Friday, he was second in both the long jump (5.54m, 18-02.25) and 400 meters (56.38), third in the shot put (9.03m, 29-07.50), fifth in the high jump (1.64m, 5-04.50) and sixth in the 100 meters (12.66). Ritzert's 4,756 points currently rank No. 13 on NCAA Division III's performance list this season. 

Senior Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, Pa., Karns City) scored a pair of top-five hurdle finishes at Carnegie Mellon. He was third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.78 seconds and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.95. Graduate student Ryan Beard (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) posted a third-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 22.38 while freshman Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) finished in third place in the discus with a personal-best throw of 40.61 meters (133-03). 

Sophomore Mason Manos (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) finished 10th in the javelin (42.31m, 138-10) and sophomore Ben White (Warren, Pa., Warren) was 11th in the 100 meters (11.48).

The 4x100-meter relay finished in fifth place at Carnegie Mellon with a time of 43.12. Relay members included Kamenski, freshman Matthew Essey (Aliquippa, Pa. , Hopewell), White and Beard. 

Westminster is scheduled to participate in the Slippery Rock University Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
