Westminster men fall to Mount Union in regular season finale

BEAVER, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program suffered a 182-111 non-conference dual meet loss to the University of Mount Union Saturday at Beaver Area High School.

Mount Union is 9-1 in dual meet action this year. Westminster concluded its regular season with a 3-6 dual meet record.

Senior Sean Perrone (Avondale, Pa., Kennett) finished first in the 1-meter, 5-dive competition with 158.15 points while freshman Colton Super (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley) finished second with 151.65 points. Perrone was also first in the 1-meter, 6-dive competition with 241.55 points and Super was second 230.70.

Senior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa., Homeschooled) and junior Sam Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) won individual swimming events for Westminster. Kallaur was first in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in a time of 1 minute, 00.45 seconds while Duda finished first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.32. 

Junior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) was second in the 200 butterfly (2:14.18) and junior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) finished second in the 400 IM (4:39.99). 

Kallaur, freshman Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa. , Wellsboro), junior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) and Corey Webster closed out the dual meet with a win, in the 200 freestyle relay posting a time of 1:37.19. The 200 medley relay, made up of junior Connor Fritz (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield), Kallaur, Duda and Phillips, finished in second place (1:40.32), just two seconds off of Mount Union's pace. 

The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships are scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday, February 14-17 at Grove City College's James E. Longnecker Pool.
