Titans compete at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--The Westminster College men's indoor track and field program competed in the second and final day of Youngstown State University's Mid Major Invitational, presented by Southwoods Health, on Saturday.

The two-day event was held inside the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). 

Freshman Jalen Ritzert (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) posted a ninth-place finish in the heptathlon, finishing with 3104 points. Friday, he was seventh in the shot put (9.20m, 30-02.25), tied for seventh in the high jump (1.67m, 5-05.75), 10th in the 60 meters (7.86) and 11th in the long jump (5.24m, 17-02.25). On Saturday Ritzert finished fifth in the 1000-meter run (3:07.59) and ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.09). 

Graduate student Ryan Beard (Murrysville, Pa., Franklin Regional) was 10th in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 22.71 seconds. It ranks as the third-best time in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this year. Beard was 25th in the 60 meters (7.223).  

Senior Anthony Kamenski (Chicora, Pa., Karns City) finished 14th in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 50.48, currently the league's third-best time. Freshman Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) was 19th in the shot put (13.45m, 44-01.50). 

Kamenski and Beard partnered with freshmen Matthew Essey (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) and Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) to finish ninth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:29.82. It ranks as the No.3 time in the PAC. 

Westminster will return to action on Friday, Feb. 9 at Baldwin Wallace University's Mid-February Meet. Events are scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
