Crown 8th in shot put at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--The Westminster College men's indoor track and field program got its season underway on Friday, participating in the Youngstown State University Icebreaker, presented by Southwoods Health. 

The unscored, season-opening event was held inside YSU's Watson & Tressel (WATTS) Center.

Sophomore Kyle Crown (Lake Milton, Ohio, McDonald) posted an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 13.67 meters (44-10.25). Sophomore Jack Crider (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) finished 12th in the weight throw (12.32m, 40-05) and 19th in the shot put (11.83m, 38-09.75). 

Senior Dane Fasick (New Brighton, Pa., New Brighton) finished 14th in the mile with time of 4 minutes, 40.89 seconds. Sophomore Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) was 15th in the 3000 meters (9:44.50) and 19th (4:50.45) in the mile. 

Freshman Reed Yost (Wattsburg, Pa., Seneca) tied for 14th in the pole vault, posting a top mark of 4.35 meters (14-03.25), while freshman Josh Gilberti (McDonald, Pa., South Fayette) finished 18th (9:49.14) in 3000. Sophomore Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 19th in the 800 meters (2:03.03) and freshman Tyrek Kelley (Medina, Ohio, Medina) finished 19th in the triple jump (11.36m, 37-03.25). 

Westminster will return to competition on Friday, January 19 at Ohio Northern University's Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational.
