Westminster men drop dual at Clarion

CLARION, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving team dropped a 207-43 decision at PennWest Clarion Friday night at the Waldo S. Tippin Natatorium. 

Freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) was second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 04.45 seconds, third in the 50 free (22.85) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:05.89). Senior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) placed second in the 200 IM (2:11.08) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.88) while classmate Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) finished third in the 200 IM (2:16.44) and fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.91). Freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla., Forest) turned in a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (56.54) and was fourth in the 100 butterfly (55.34). Senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished third in the 1000 (11:07.22).

Senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) recorded fourth-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:56.07) and the 500 free (5:25.57). Senior Steel Boyer (Mohrsville, Pa., Schuylkill Valley) finished fourth in the 200 butterfly (2:25.95), senior Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin) was fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.55).

The 200 medley "A" relay finished fourth with a time of 1:43.41. Relay members included Katigback, Phillips, Bumbach and Duda. Westminster's 200 freestyle "A" relay was fourth (1:38.32). Duda, Phillips, Mickle and freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) made up the relay. 

Westminster will head to the College of Wooster Invitational Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 5-7.
