Westminster falls to W&J at home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program fell to Washington & Jefferson College 153-137 Saturday afternoon at the Westminster Natatorium. 

Westminster fell to 0-2 in dual meets this year. W&J improved to 1-2-1. 

Freshman Jack Katigbak (North Canton, Ohio, Lake Center Christian) won the 100 back with a time of 55.24 seconds, the 200 back (2:04.44) and 50 free (22.92). Senior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) won the 1000 free (11:01.10) and the 500 free (5:20.04) while freshman Avery Bumbach (Ocala, Fla. , Forest) won the 200 free (1:51.64) and finished second in the 200 fly (2:10.93) and 200 IM (2:05.47).

Senior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) finished second in the 100 breast (1:06.53) and in the 200 breast (2:25.82) while senior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished second in the 1000 free (11:10.95).

Sophomore Colton Super (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley) was second in both the 1-meter (207.00) and 3-meter (165.70) diving events.

Westminster's "A" team won the 400 free relay (3:30.46). Members of the relay included Bumbach, freshman Ethan Schohn (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum), Duda and Katigbak. 

Westminster hosts Allegheny College next Saturday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
