Titans fall at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving team was dealt a 193-95 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet loss by Grove City College Wednesday night at James E. Longnecker Pool.

Grove City improved to 6-0 overall and is now 4-0 in PAC dual meets. Westminster fell to 4-4 overall and is 3-2 against conference opponents this season. 

Junior Connor Fritz (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) earned a pair of individual victories Wednesday. He scored a first-place finish in the 50 backstroke with a time of 25.14 seconds and also won the 100 backstroke (55.36). Senior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa., Homeschooled) registered a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.05) and placed third in the 50 breaststroke (28.36). 

Junior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) was second in the 100 butterfly (57.09) and the 500 freestyle (5:10.70) and junior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished third in the 1000 freestyle (11:02.04).

Senior Sean Perrone (Avondale, Pa., Kennett) and freshman Colton Super (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley) finished one-two on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Perrone totaled 232.35 points and Super finished with 181.50 points in the 3-meter event, while Perrone finished with 212.30 points and Super totaled 180.25 points in the 1-meter event. 

The Titans' 200 medley "A" relay, made up of Fritz, Kallaur, junior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) and freshman Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro), finished third (1:41.94). Duda, sophomore Ron Whitehouse (Maryville, Tenn., Maryville), junior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) and junior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) finished in fourth place in the 400 freestyle "A" relay (3:33.39).

Westminster will host the University of Mount Union Saturday at Beaver Area High School in Beaver, Pa. The non-conference dual meet, scheduled to get underway at 12 p.m., will also serve as Westminster's Senior Recognition Day.
