Titans win PAC dual at Chatham

PITTSBURGH--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program earned a 222-37 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet victory over Chatham University Saturday afternoon at the Sigo Falk Natatorium.

Westminster improved to 3-3 overall and 3-0 in PAC dual meets. The Titans won 15 of the 16 contested events Saturday. Chatham fell to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in conference duals.

The 400 medley relay, made up of junior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley), junior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair), senior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa., Homeschooled) and junior Connor Fritz (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield), opened the meet with a winning time of 3 minutes, 56.83 seconds.

Fritz raced to a first-place time in the 100 butterfly (58.16) and also claimed individual victories in the 100 freestyle (52.04) and the 200 IM (2:11.91).

Junior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) won the 100 backstroke (1:02.75) and the 1000 (11:38.36) while Duda won both the 50 backstroke (27.72) and the 100 breaststroke (1:10.64). Freshman Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) won the 50 butterfly (26.31) and the 200 freestyle (1:59.06).

Senior Sean Perrone (Avondale, Pa., Kennett) won on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. He finished with 232.65 points in the 1-meter competition and 258.30 points during the 3-meter competition.

Junior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) won the 50 breaststroke (31.23) and Kallaur won the 50 freestyle (24.73).

Westminster's 200 freestyle "B" relay, comprised of Duda, Benedict and juniors Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) and Jack Mickle (Presto, Pa., Bishop Canevin), closed out the dual with a winning time of 1:39.45.

Westminster will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Saint Vincent College. Events are scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. at Resnik Pool.
