Westminster men score PAC dual meet win at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program claimed a 147.50-46.50 dual meet victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Allegheny College at Mellon Pool Friday night.  

Westminster improved to 2-3 in dual meet action this season, including a 2-0 mark against league opposition. Allegheny fell to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the PAC. 

The two relays contested - the 400 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay - were mixed relays. They were unscored. 

Junior Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley) swam to first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle, the 200 backstroke and the 200 IM. He cruised to a winning time of one minute, 54.31 seconds in the 200 freestyle before registering a time of 2:10.84 in the 200 backstroke and time of 2:09.59 in the 200 IM. Senior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa., Homeschooled) posted wins in the 50 breaststroke (29.65) and the 200 breaststroke (2:25.25) and finished second in the 50 freestyle (24.01).

Senior Sean Perrone (Avondale, Pa., Kennett) won both diving events, finishing with 194.10 points on the 1-meter board and 246.65 points on the 3-meter board. 

Junior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) won the 200 butterfly (2:19.31) and finished second in the second in the 1000 freestyle (11:31.97). Junior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished first in the 1000 freestyle (11:06.49). Junior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) earned a victory in the 500 freestyle (5:28.45) and was second in the 50 backstroke (28.98). 

Freshman Hayne Webster (Wellsboro, Pa., Wellsboro) finished second in both the 50 butterfly (26.13) and 100 freestyle (53.79). Junior Patrick Benedict (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper St. Clair) was second in the 200 IM (2:13.29). 

Junior Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas, Veritas Academy), Kallaur, Duda and junior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) combined to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:03.27. Corey Webster, Phillips, senior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa., Fleetwood) and freshman Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) finished second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.15. 

Westminster will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Chatham University. Events at the Sigo Falk Natatorium are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
