Titans win at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving team rolled to a 173-118 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet win at Washington & Jefferson Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster pushed its season record to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. W&J fell to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference. 

Juniors Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla., Bishop Kelley), Connor Fritz (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and Dawson Yocum (Flower Mound, Texas, Flower Mound) were double winners Saturday.

Duda swam to individual victories in the 200 butterfly (2:12.89) and 200 backstroke (2:09.30) and was the runner-up in the 200 IM (2:09.77). Fritz won the 50 freestyle (23.42) and the 100 freestyle (51.85). Yocum posted first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:55.26) and the 500 freestyle (5:24.10).

Fritz swam backstroke, Duda swam butterfly while Yocum swam freestyle on the winning 200 medley relay (1:43.44). Senior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa., Homeschooled) swam breaststroke on the medley relay. Fritz swam the first leg, Yocum also swam the second leg and Kallaur anchored the Titans' winning 400 freestyle relay (3:30.77). Junior Zach Burghgraef (Caledonia, Mich., South Christian) swam the third leg on the freestyle relay. 

Junior Cory Webster (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) won the 100 butterfly (1:00.01). Junior Michael Phillips (Saxonburg, Pa., Knoch) was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly (2:23.66) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.21). Junior Mason Peck (Cary, N.C., Panther Creek) finished second in the 1000 freestyle (11:31.14) and 200 freestyle (2:08.48).

Westminster will travel to non-conference rival Wooster on Saturday, Nov. 11. The event inside the Timken Natatorium is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
