Titans ninth at PAC men's cross country championships

GREENVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's cross country program finished in ninth place at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Saturday morning. 

The 10-team, 114-runner event was held at the Greenville Municipal Airport. It was Thiel's first timing hosting the conference championships since 2005.

Saint Vincent totaled 56 points to win the conference title. Washington & Jefferson was the runner-up with 71 points while Allegheny finished in third place (76). Westminster finished with 268 points. 

Junior Dane Fasick (New Brighton, Pa., New Brighton) led Westminster with a time of 29 minutes, 28.93 seconds, good for 61st place. Sophomore Justin Redilla (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) was 74th (30:02.67) and freshman Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 83rd (30:42.59). Seniors Caden Harsh (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and Ryan Armstrong (Pocono Summit, Pa., Pocono Mountain West) finished 87th and 89th, respectively, with Harsh posting a time of 30:59.96 and Armstrong registering a time of 31:15.15. 

Harsh was named a member of this year's PAC Sportsmanship Team after the completion of the event. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams.

Geneva's Kevin Arseneaux was honored as the PAC Runner of the Year after finishing the eight-kilometer loop with a winning time of 25:52.44. He is Geneva's first-ever runner of the year. W&J's Dominic Flitcraft was recognized as the PAC Newcomer of the Year after his runner-up finish (26:05.42).

Westminster is scheduled to compete at the Grove City Twilight (5K) on Friday, Nov. 3. 

The 10 Division III regional championships are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11. Bethany, Chatham, Geneva, Grove City, Saint Vincent, Thiel, W&J, Waynesburg and Westminster will compete in the Mid-Atlantic region, while Allegheny and Franciscan will compete in the Great Lakes region. The Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships will be hosted by Susquehanna at Lock Haven's West Branch Cross Country Course, while John Carroll will host the Division III Great Lakes Championships at Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio near Akron.
