Bender 10th at Penn State Behrend

Westminster registered third-place finish

ERIE, Pa.--Freshman Nick Bender (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) ran to a 10th-place finish to lead the Westminster College men's cross country program at the Penn State Behrend Twilight Invitational Friday.

Penn State Behrend claimed the team title at the five program, five-mile event, finishing with 19 points. Behrend's Alex Haskins won the individual title after posting a time of 27 minutes, 35 seconds.

Mansfield was second with 59 points. Westminster totaled 74 points to finish third.

Bender crossed the line in 29:47 for Westminster.

Junior Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) was 12th (30:00) while freshman Phil Silvis (Harmony, Pa., Seneca Valley) finished 13th (30:06). Junior Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 22nd (32:34) while freshmen Dillon Brunner (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) and Nate Gannoe (Erie, Pa., Cathedral Prep) were 25th (33:28) and 27th (36:27), respectively.

Westminster will participate in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preview next Saturday at Allegheny.
