Bender finishes 33rd, men sixth at Fisher Invitational

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-Freshman Nick Bender (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) made his debut for the Westminster men's cross country program at the College's annual Fisher Invitational Friday evening, finishing 33rd overall and helping the Titans to a sixth-place team finish.

Robert Morris led the eight-team event, finishing with 38 points. Saint Vincent was second with 66 points. Robert Morris' Owen Dressler (15:55.60) edged Franciscan's Andrew Madigan (15:55.70) by one-tenth of a second for first place. RMU's Caden Riethmiller was third (16:00.90). 

Bender registered a time of 17 minutes, 06.20 seconds. Classmate Phil Silvis (Harmony, Pa., Seneca Valley) was 41st with a time of 17:38.20 while junior Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) finished 43rd with a time of 17:49.90. Freshman Dillon Brunner (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) was 65th (19:20.80) and junior Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 77th (20:24.40). 

Next:
Westminster will participate in the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12.
