Westminster men earn dual meet league win over Saint Vincent

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's swimming and diving program claimed a 171-123 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet victory over visiting Saint Vincent College Saturday afternoon.

The Titans improved to 4-2 in dual meets and 4-0 against conference competition. Saint Vincent fell to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in PAC duals. 

Junior Paul Kallaur (Bethel Park, Pa. | Homeschooled) swept the breaststroke, winning the 100 in one minute, 01.44 seconds and the 200 in 2:20.51. Sophomore Samuel Duda (Tulsa, Okla. | Bishop Kelley) posted a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:51.87), a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:07.30) and a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:15.21).

Titan divers went 1-2-3 in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Graduate student Patrick Holton
(Livonia, Mich. | Winston Churchill) won on both boards, scoring 398.45 points on the one-meter and 341.50 points on the three-meter. Junior Sean Perrone (Avondale, Pa. | Kennett) was second on the one-meter (237.10) and the three-meter (259.40). Senior Jake Trzcinski (Beaver Falls, Pa. | Blackhawk) had third-place finishes one the one-meter (193.85) and three-meter (230.10). 

Senior Stephen Adametz (Glenshaw, Pa. | Shaler) registered runner-up finishes in the 100 butterfly ( 58.00) and 200 butterfly (2:11.00). Sophomore Dawson Yocum (Flower Mound, Texas | Flower Mound) finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.62), 500 freestyle (5:07.72) and 1000 freestyle (10:35.40).

Graduate student Kevin MacMurdo
(Pittsburgh, Pa. | Carlynton) logged a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (51.58) and third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:55.36). Freshman Ron Whitehouse (Maryville, Tenn. | Maryville) had a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke (59.64) and third-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:10.34). 

The Titans bookended the meet with a pair of relay victories, winning the 200 medley relay in 1:42.06 and the 200 freestyle relay in 1:32.86. Duda, Kallaur, Adametz and MacMurdo swam on the medley relay. Yocum, Adametz, Kallaur and MacMurdo made up the freestyle relay. 

Westminster will close the league portion of its dual meet schedule on Thursday, January 26 against Grove City College. Events will begin at 6 p.m.
