Indoor Track & Field squads open season at Youngstown State Icebreaker

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio--The Westminster College indoor track and field programs opened the 2022-23 season Friday at the Youngstown State Icebreaker, presented by Southwoods Health. The event was held at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).

Highlighting the women's performances was freshman Maddy Treharne (Burton, Ohio | Beaumont School), who posted a third-place finish in the unseeded pole vault competition with a mark of 3.20 meters (10-06). Junior Madison Conley (New Castle, Pa. | New Castle) finished 10th in the seeded pole vault competition (3.15m, 10-04).

Sophomore Lexi Shiderly (New Castle, Pa. | Mohawk) placed 12th in the shot put with a throw of 11.07m (36-04). Freshman Monica Curtis (Harborcreek, Pa. | Harbor Creek) finished 19th in the mile run (6:02.32)

For the men, senior Jacob Patton (Harrisville, Pa. | Moniteau) tied for seventh in the unseeded pole vault competition with a mark of 3.70m (12-01.50). He also finished 18th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles (8.67).

Senior Hunter Linhart (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Plum) was 18th in the shot put with a throw of 12.75m (41-10). Freshman Michael Hvizdak (Aliquippa, Pa. | Hopewell) finished 20th in the triple jump (10.96m, 35-11.50).

Westminster is scheduled to return to action in 2023.
