Men’s Basketball: W&J Snaps Westminster’s Winning Streak

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snap following a 90-79 loss at Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday.

"We never quit," said Head Coach Kevin Siroki. "Have to be ready to play from the start. They're a good team and we'll bounce back."

Senior Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) led the Titan offense with a career-high 26 points and was just two rebounds away from a double-double with eight (one shy from a career-high). Senior Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) registered his third double-double this year (fourth of his career) with 15 points and 10 rebounds. First-year Sky'Ler Thomas (New Castle, PA / Sharon Kennedy Catholic) also scored in double-figures with a career-high 13 points. Senior Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) grabbed down a team-high 12 rebounds, to go along with seven points and a team-high three blocks. Junior Tyler James (Youngstown, OH / Warren JFK) added seven points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Reese Leone (Beloit, OH / West Branch) had eight points.

Washington & Jefferson (13-4, 8-2 PAC) never trailed. In the first half, Westminster (10-6, 7-3 PAC) kept battling and got within one point (23-22) of the Presidents' lead. W&J, however, outscored the Titans 17-7 for the remainder of the half and led 40-29 at halftime. The Titans cut the deficit to single-digits early in the second half, but proved to be too large to overcome.

The Titans will look to get back in the win column Wednesday, Jan. 26 as they travel to Geneva with an 8 p.m. start.
