Men’s Basketball: Titans Beat Geneva in PAC Classic

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – For the second time this season, the Westminster men's basketball team won over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Geneva in overtime as the Titans overcame a late fourth-quarter deficit to win, 93-92, on the road in OT Wednesday night.

"We gutted out the win," said head coach Kevin Siroki. "We chipped away to get it to OT and came away with a great team win. Westminster-Geneva games always come down to the last possession or two."

Titan senior Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) had a dominant performance as he led all scorers with a career-high 29 points (12-of-14), to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds for his third double-double of his career.

"We rode Josh's back all night," Siroki said. "So proud of his performance and guys looking to get him the ball."

Three other Titans scored in double-digits: sophomore Reese Leone (Beloit, OH / West Branch) (17), senior Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) (16), and sophomore Andrew Clark (New Middletown, OH / Springfield Local) (12). Clark was one rebound away from a double-double with nine and had a game-high three blocks. Leone also dished out a team-high seven assists.

The first half was close throughout the frame and the Golden Tornadoes held a 39-35 lead at halftime. The Titans, who never led in the second half, kept battling. Down by eight (74-66) with four minutes to play, Westminster went on a 10-2 run, capped off by a successful and-one layup by Hutcherson and a tying layup by Ritter with a minute left to force OT. The Titans shot out of the gates in overtime with an 8-0 run and held Geneva off the rest of OT.

Westminster (11-6, 8-3 PAC) snapped Geneva's (9-7, 7-3 PAC) four-game winning streak.

The Titans will next host Thiel in PAC action on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 3:30 p.m. The PAC Sports Network will be broadcasting the game live.
