NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) today selected women's golf first-year Erika Hoover (New Castle, PA / Wilmington Area) as its Titan Athlete of the Week for her record-breaking performance during the week of September 16.
 
Hoover claimed the first medalist honors of her career, set an individual school record, and was part of a team record performance in only her second week of competing collegiately.
 
Hoover earned the first medalist honors of her career as she set a school record with a two-over 74 and helped Westminster tie a school record with a 341 at the Westminster Invitational on Saturday. Westminster originally set the team record in this season's opener at Mount Union, where Hoover finished best for the Titans with a third-place 81 in her collegiate debut (which tied for second at the time in school history). Hoover's 74 broke Kelsey Phillips's 80 which she shot at the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shootout during the 2017-18 season. Senior Emily Marcus (South Park, PA / South Park) also broke the previous school record at the Westminster Invite with a career-best 79.
 
Additionally, Hoover finished as runner-up at the two-day Allegheny Women's Invitational on Sunday and Monday as she tied a school record for a 36-hole score of 162 (80-82).
 
Overall, Hoover averaged 78.7 strokes last week in three rounds played. Hoover already has two of the top three scores (74-1st and 80-tied for 3rd) in program history.
 
The Titans will next compete at Washington & Jefferson on Sunday, September 29.
