Outdoor Track & Field: Westminster Returns to Action at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Westminster College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in Slippery Rock University's Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday.
 
For the Titan women, reigning PAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week Morgan Gossard (Johnstown, PA / Richland) finished tied for third in the pole vault with a jump of 3.45m. In the long jump, sophomore Selena Thomas (Farrell, PA / Farrell Area) fin-ished with a jump of 5.05m, good for fourth place for the day. Thomas also added a fifth-place finish in the 100, crossing at a time of 12.50. In the 800 meter run, sopho-more Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) crossed the finish line with a time of 2:21.86 to complete a seventh-place finish out of sixty seven runners. In the 400 hur-dles, junior April Larrison (Hartford, OH / Joseph Badger) finished with a time of 1:11.61 to place tenth in the field.  In the 3000 steeplechase, sophomore Alli-son Hampton (Ten Sleep, WY/ Ten Sleep) finished with a time of 13:40.37 to finish ninth. The Titans competed in the 4x100 relay, as the team of Ward, Thomas, and sophomores Natalie Schwarz (Hudson, OH / Hudson) and Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic), notched a third-place finish for the Titans with a time of 51.56.
 
For the Titan men, senior Jaevon Hardy (Waldorf, MD / North Point) notched a second-place finish in the 100 with a time 10.73. Freshman Amon Sams was right behind Har-dy, finishing with a time of 11.13 to place tenth. Hardy and Sams also made their mark in the 200, finishing with times of 21.93 (4th), and 23.01 (18th), respectively. Hardy and Sams also competed as part of the 4x100 relay, where they, plus the pairing of junior Bryce Hill (Boynton Beach, FL / Boca Raton Community) and freshman Vincent Giles (Lexington Park, MD/ Great Mills) finished third (42.45). Sophomore Clay O'Dell (Vien-na, OH / Kennedy Catholic) placed tied for third with a high jump registering 1.92m. Senior African Grant II (Warren, OH/ Warren JFK) and sophomore Dalton Ander-son (Butler, PA / Moniteau) also competed in high jump, finishing with jumps of 1.87m and 1.82m, respectively. Anderson also competed in the javelin, where he marked a distance of 55.61m to place fourth in the field. In pole vault, Titan junior Tim Maxwell (Washington, PA / McGuffey) registered a jump of 4.45m to place second in the field, while freshman Jonathan Micsky also competed, vaulting 4.15m to place fifth.
 
The Titans will next host the Westminster Invitational Saturday, April 13.
