PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the Carnegie Mellon University's Quad Invitational on Saturday.
For the Titan women, first-year
Morgan Gossard (Johnstown, PA / Richland) finished first in the pole vault with a jump of 12 feet 2.75 inches (3.73m). The Titan women also featured a first-place relay team. The foursome of sophomore

Nicole Cress (Saxonburg, PA / Knoch), junior
Maura Belding (Columbiana, OH / Crestview), and sophomore
Selena Thomas (Farrell, PA / Farrell Area) won the 4x100 relay with a time of 50.25. Three of the four finished top five in the 100 with Thomas placing second (12.84), Cress third (13.28), and Schwarz fifth (13.97). Thomas and Cress also finished top five in the 200 with Thomas placing second (26.40) and Cress crossing the finish fourth (27.11). Thomas added another second-place finish in the long jump with a length of 16 feet 6 inches (5.03m). The Titans got another second-place finish in the discus by first-year
Caitlyn Mattocks (Mercer, PA / Mercer Area) with a throw of 73 feet 2 inches (22.31m). In the 3000,
Katie Schrantz (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) finished fourth out of 15 runners (11:02.08). In the 800,
Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) crossed the finish line fifth out of 16 runners with a time of 2:27.49. Also in the pole vault, senior
Jamie Thompson finished fourth with a height of 10 feet 3.25 inches (3.13m).
For the Titan men, sophomore
Dalton Anderson (Butler, PA / Moniteau) won the javelin with a throw of 173 feet (52.74m) and placed second in the 110 hurdles (16.45). Titan senior
Jake Kaylor (Export, PA / Greensburg Salem) won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.11. The Titan men got another first-place finish from junior
Tim Maxwell (Washington, PA / McGuffey) in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet 10 inches (4.52m), which is an outdoor career-best for Maxwell. In the high jump, sophomore
Clay O'Dell (Vienna, OH / Kennedy Catholic) placed second with a jump of 6 feet 2 inches (1.88m). O'Dell also finished fifth out of 15 in the long jump with a length of 19 feet 11.25 inches (6.08m). In the 100, first-year
Vincent Giles (Lexington Park, MD / Great Mills) and junior
Bryce Hill (Boynton Beach, FL / Boca Raton Community) finished third (11.80) and fourth (11.81) respectively. In the 200, the Titans had another pair of third and fourth place finishers with first-year Jacob Mussleman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) placing third (23.99) and junior
Ian Miller (Sarver, PA / Freeport) finishing fourth (24.35). Mussleman also added a fourth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 52.76.
The Titan women finished second of four teams with a score of 143.50. The Titan men finished third with a score of 123.50.
Westminster will next compete at Slippery Rock Saturday, April 6.
