NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving teams defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Chatham University at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Titan men won, 102-57, improving their overall record to 5-0 and conference record to 2-0. The Titan women won, 158-100, and improved their overall record to 3-2, while staying perfect in conference play at 2-0.
For the men, the 400-medley relay team of seniors
Scott Morosetti (Pittsburgh, PA / South Park),
Michael DiDomenico (Canfield, OH / Canfield), and juniors
Clay Murray (St. Thomas, PA / James Buchanan) and
Luke Simmons (Ashland, OH / Ashland) posted a first-place time of 3:50.66. Sophomore
Matthew Bogen (Canfield, OH / Canfield) finished first in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.43) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.66). Junior
Michael Spencer (Clearfield, PA / Clearfield) placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (58.01), while senior
Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.63). Sophomores
Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) and
Thomas Somora (Grove City, PA / Grove City) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.41) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.30), respectively. Westminster also won six events in which it used exhibition swimmers.
The Titan women 200-yard freestyle relay team was victorious, with sophomores
Abigail Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch),
Nicole Stengel (Pittsburgh, PA / Carlynton), junior
Carolyn Novak (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper St. Clair) and senior
Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) swimming a time of 1:45.05. Douds also placed first in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly, posting times of 5:31.68 and 2:19.09, respectively. Jones finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.07), while Stengel was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (26.12). Senior
Anna Amsbaugh (Carlisle, PA / Boiling Springs) placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.03), and first-year teammate
Nyna Hess (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson) finished first in the 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 2:23.68.
Both the men's and women's diving teams competed against Clarion University. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, posting a score of 213.75 and 213.83, respectively.
The Titans are back in action Thursday, November 30 at the Wooster Invitational hosted by The College of Wooster. Start time is set for 11 a.m.
