Women’s Basketball: Titans Fall to No. 2 Thomas More, 88-50

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost 88-50 to the number two nationally ranked Thomas More College Saints at home on Saturday.

Thomas More (19-0, 12-0 PAC) started the game with a 14-0 lead with 16:08 remaining. Sophomore Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) scored Westminster's (4-15, 3-9 PAC) first points with a three-point field goal with 15:49 on the clock, bringing the score to 14-3 in favor of the Saints.

The Titans got within nine points of Thomas More's lead (18-9) after sophomore Paige Quinn (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) drained a pair of free throws with 11:41 left in the half. Thomas More regained its double-digit lead and took its largest lead of the half when Sydney Moss connected on a three-pointer with two seconds on the clock, putting the Saints in front 41-22 at halftime. In the second half, Thomas More maintained its double-digit lead and led by as much as 40 points three different times.

The Saints turned 29 Titan turnovers into 39 points. Thomas More out-shot Westminster 42.3% (30-71) to 33.3% (16-48) and out-rebounded the Titans 42-35.

Durbin led the Titan offense with 11 points. First-year Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) added eight points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Allison Borts (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) added six points and four rebounds.

Westminster will host Grove City on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
