CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 71-57, to Thomas More College on the road Saturday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action. Â
With the loss, the Titans fell to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in PAC. With the win, the Saints improved to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Three Titans scored in double-digits, led by freshman Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) with 17 points. Junior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) and freshman Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) registered 11 and 10 points respectively. Vrabel recorded his second double-double of the season as he pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Saints went up 6-0 early in the first half with 16:49 on the clock. The Titans responded with an 8-2 run to cut Thomas More's lead to 10-8. The Saints answered with a 28-10 run to extend their lead to 38-18 with 2:38 remaining in the half. Westminster finished the half with a 7-2 run, cutting the Saints' lead to 40-28 at intermission.
The Titans opened the second half on a 19-10 run to cut the lead to 50-44 with 9:17 to play in the game. However, that would be as close as Westminster would come as Thomas More led by as many as 16 points and closed out the game on a 21-13 run for the 71-57 victory.
Thomas More out-shot Westminster 48.2% (27-56) to 44.4% (24-54). Both teams had 31 rebounds.
Westminster is idle until December 20 when it travels to Pittsburgh, Pa. to play La Roche College at 3 p.m.
