NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team cruised to a 10-0 win over visiting Chatham Saturday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action. The Titans scored two more goals vs. Chatham Saturday than they did in their previous 15 games combined as they increased their season goal total from eight to 18.
Westminster is now 6-9-1 on the season and 4-3 in the PAC, while the Cougars fall to 1-12 overall and 0-7 in the league.
Senior defender Tyler Dever (Salt Lake City, Utah/Highland) and senior midfielder Samantha Killmeyer (Medina, Ohio/Highland) each scored two goals to increase their season totals to three and five, respectively.
Killmeyer scored the second and third goals of the game in the third and 11th minutes after senior midfielder Brittany Grabski (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) opened the scoring with a tally in the second minute.
Dever then sandwiched a pair of goals around a conversion by sophomore midfielder Kristina Tissue (Coraopolis, Pa./West Allegheny) in the 32nd minute.
Senior midfielder Shanay Phillian (New Castle, Pa./Wilmington) scored in the 37th minute and sophomore defender Ali Stark (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) found the back of the net in the 39th minute to close out the first-half scoring.
Senior defender Kelli Michanowicz (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and junior midfielder Maura Miglioretti (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) netted the two second-half goals.
Junior goalkeeper Jenn Cantella (Freedom, Pa./Freedom) and freshman Maddie Trammell (Bumpass, Va./Louisa County) combined for the shutout with each keeper playing a half and each making one save.
Westminster outshot the Cougars 29-2.
The Titans play at Thiel Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
