NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - After scoring the first goal, the Westminster College women's soccer team could not answer four goals by visiting Thomas More in a 4-1 loss Wednesday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action. The Titans drop to 4-8-1 on the season and 2-2 in the PAC, while the Saints improve to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in league play.
Senior defender Kelli Michanowicz (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) advanced from her back line position to score her first goal of the season and fourth of her career on an assist from senior midfielder Samantha Killmeyer (Medina, Ohio/Highland). Michanowicz's goal came in the fourth minute, but it was quickly followed by Thomas More goals in the 15th and 20th minutes.
Lauren Wietmarschen tied the game before Emilee Buchanan buried the game-winner on an assist by Chrissy Sonderman. Courtney Clark and Kelsea Arvin added a pair of second-half goals.
Westminster junior goalkeeper Jenn Cantella (Freedom, Pa./Freedom) made six saves, while Saints goalkeeper Katie Burger stopped three shots. Thomas More outshot the Titans 13-7.
Westminster travels to Waynesburg Saturday at 5 p.m.
