Men's Basketball: Shea Scores Game-High 19 in Titans' Loss to Thomas More

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Freshman guard Christian Shea (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) scored a game-high 19 points, but the Westminster College men's basketball team lost 79-57 to visiting Thomas More Saturday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.

The Titans are now 4-16 overall and 1-9 in the PAC, while the Saints up their records to 11-8 overall and 7-2 in the league.

Shea converted on 7 of 10 shots from the field including 5-7 shooting from 3-point range. He was the only Titan to score in double figures as sophomore guard Reuben King (Tarentum, Pa./Highlands) bucketed nine points and sophomore guard Doug Smith (South Park, Pa./South Park), the Titans' leading scorer with a 14.3 average, bucketed six points.

Junior forward Rob Briggs (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) and freshman guard Anthony Thomas (New Castle, Pa./Union) also scored six points apiece, while Briggs led the Titans with eight rebounds and Thomas handed out a team-high four assists.

Five Saints scored in double figures led by Brian Muse with 15 points and Aaron Miller with 14 to go with a team-high seven rebounds.

Thomas More shot a sizzling 56.0 percent (28-50) from the floor compared to the Titans at 44.4 percent (24-54).

After a tie score midway through the first half, Thomas More built a 13-point, 38-25 lead at halftime. The Saints led by no fewer than 11 points and no more than 24 in the second half.

Westminster travels to Waynesburg Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
