Women's Soccer: Titans Break in New Goalkeeper in 3-1 Loss at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Playing a game with a starting goalkeeper that joined the team earlier in the week, the Westminster College women's soccer team fell 3-1 at Juniata Wednesday despite holding an early lead. The Titans' record drops to 4-4-1 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 4-3.

Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Moyer (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), a member of the team in 2008, rejoined the team earlier in the week after Westminster's starting and only goalkeeper, sophomore Jenn Cantella (Freedom, Pa./Freedom), sustained a season-ending injury in practice last week. Moyer made five saves, allowed three goals and faced 23 shots in her debut.

Westminster scored first when senior forward Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) netted her team-leading ninth goal of the season on an assist from junior midfielder Shanay Phillian (New Castle, Pa./Wilmington). The goal was Nee's 45th of her career, moving her into sole possession of fourth place on Westminster's all-time list for career goals.

Juniata tied the game in the 21st minute when Nikki Hankinson buried an unassisted goal. After 38 minutes of a tie score, Lauren Brant scored the game-winner for Juniata in the 60th minute and Erin Eddinger added an insurance goal in the 78th minute.

Gabrielle Ricciardi made five saves for the Eagles while facing 13 Westminster shots.

Westminster plays its first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of the season Saturday when it hosts Waynesburg at 4 p.m.
