Men's Basketball: Hiram Hands Westminster its Fifth Straight Loss

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost its fifth straight game as the Titans lost to visiting Hiram, 99-81, Wednesday night in nonconference action. The Titans fall to 1-6 on the season and the Terriers improve to 4-4.

Junior forward Rob Briggs (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) equaled his season high with 16 points to lead the Titans. Briggs was 6-12 shooting from the field and he also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Freshman guard Anthony Thomas (New Castle, Pa./Union) bucketed 12 points and junior forward Andy Timko (Hubbard, Ohio/McDonald) sank 10 points to account for Westminster's double-figure scorers. Thomas tied a game high with a team-high five assists.

Four Terriers scored in double digits led by Hassan Muhammad, who came off the bench and poured in a game-high 24 points on 8-11 shooting from the field. He also ripped down nine rebounds.

Chris Roberts and Glenn Campbell each scored 14 points for Hiram while Babajide Eniola sank 11 points to go with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Hiram led by as many as 16 points in the first half before enjoying a 14-point, 51-37 halftime lead.

The Titans could only come within 13 points on three occasions in the second half, the latest with nine minutes remaining, before the Terriers led by as many as 22 points down the stretch.

Westminster returns to conference play at Thomas More Saturday at 3 p.m. The Titans play two holiday tournaments at Transylvania and Bluffton before returning home Jan. 4 vs. Waynesburg.
