NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team lost to SUNY Geneseo, 2-1, in double overtime at home Saturday in nonconference action. The Titans fall to 6-6-1 on the season and the Blue Knights improve to 8-4.
Westminster senior forward Danielle Struble (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) gave the Titans a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on an assist by junior defender Kelli Michanowicz (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg).
Geneseo tied the game just before halftime on a goal by Stephanie Verdino. After the teams went scoreless through the second half and the first overtime, Kelly Bergin buried the deciding goal with just over one minute remaining in the second overtime on an assist from Emily Novak.
Westminster outshot the Blue Knights, 9-8.
Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Moyer (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) made seven saves for the Titans, while Julia Sanger stopped two shots for Geneseo.
Westminster plays at Thomas More Wednesday at 4 p.m.
