BETHANY, W.Va. - The Westminster College women soccer team clinched a berth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament with a 4-1 win at Bethany Wednesday night. The Titans have now won four out of five games to improve to 10-8-1 on the season and 5-2 in the PAC. Bethany falls to 7-8-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the league.
Senior forward Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) scored two goals for Westminster giving her 15 on the season and closing the gap on the PAC goal-scoring leader Cassie Spalding who scored her league-leading 17th goal of the season for the Bison.
Nee scored just 42 seconds into the match on a breakaway before senior forward Danielle Struble (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville) netted her 10th goal of the season in the 28th minute. Nee then gave the Titans a 3-0 lead with a goal in the 35th minute.
Spalding put the Bison the board midway through the second half and Westminster junior midfielder Shanay Phillian (New Castle, Pa./Wilmington) potted the final goal in the 88th minute.
Junior defender Tyler Dever (Salt Lake City, Utah/Highland) assisted on Nee's final goal and sophomore midfielder Maura Miglioretti (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) assisted on Phillian's goal.
Westminster senior goalkeeper Lindsay Moyer (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) made six saves, while Bethany netminder Brittany Sadler stopped three shots.
Westminster hosts its final home game of the season Saturday at 2 p.m. vs. Washington & Jefferson.
