NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team routed visiting Thiel, 6-0, Friday night in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match held at Harold Burry Stadium. The Titans have now won three straight matches, all by shutouts.
The Titans improve to 9-7-1 on the season and 4-2 in the PAC. Thiel is now 2-15 and 0-6 in the league.
Sophomore forward Kristen Koontz (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) posted her third two-goal game of the season to give her six on the season for Westminster.
Senior forward Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season and registered her first two-assist game of the season for the Titans.
The first three goals of the game came from senior forward Danielle Struble (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville), junior midfielder Brittany Grabski (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell), and junior midfielder Shanay Phillian (New Castle, Pa./Wilmington) in the fifth, sixth and 21st minutes, respectively.
Nee assisted on Struble's goal and junior defender Tyler Dever (Salt Lake City, Utah/Highland) assisted on Koontz's first goal. Freshman midfielder Kristina Tissue (Coraopolis, Pa/Pine-Richland) and freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Kio (Port Allegany, Pa./Port Allegany) assisted on fifth and sixth goals of the game, respectively. Kio's assist was the first of her career.
Westminster senior goalkeeper Lindsay Moyer (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) earned her third straight shutout and her fourth shutout of the season by making seven saves.
The Titans outshot the Tomcats, 27-9.
Westminster travels to Case Western Reserve tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
