Women's Soccer: W&J Eliminates Titans from PACs in Double Overtime

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College lost at home in the semifinal round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament Wednesday afternoon with a 1-0, double-overtime loss against Washington & Jefferson.

The No. 3-seeded Presidents (14-5-1) advance to play at top-seeded Thomas More in the PAC finals on Saturday while the No. 2-seeded Titans (14-4-2) will await a potential at-large berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament or a bid in the ECAC Division III South Championships.

The game-winning goal came 2:10 into the second overtime when Washington & Jefferson's Spencer Ahrenholtz deposited a 35-yard shot from the right side high over Westminster junior goalkeeper Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) on an assist from Molly Macioce.

Westminster held a 14-7 shot advantage over W&J and Ahrenholtz's shot was just the second on goal during the 102:10 of the game with Mellott making one save for the Titans.

Senior forward Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) led the Titans with five shots including an exciting sequence midway through the second half that ended with her shot attempt a few yards out hitting the right goal post.
