NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost at home to Geneva, 73-46, Wednesday night.
Senior guard/forward Emilee Ackerman (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) led Westminster (11-5) with 16 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season.
Freshman guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) was the next highest scorer for the Titans with seven points to go with a game-high six assists.
Renee Rawding led Geneva (14-2) with a game-high 27 points, including 6-8 shooting from 3-point range. Allyson Clarke also bucketed 24 points.
Westminster stormed to a 10-1 lead before losing the lead with 7:18 remaining in the first half. Geneva would later go on an 18-4 run and head into halftime with a 39-28 lead.
After holding an 11-point lead at intermission, Geneva's lead swelled to a 25-point, 55-30 advantage with 11:08 to go in the game and never looked back.
Geneva shot 47.9 percent (23-48) compared to Westminster at 29.2 percent (14-48). The Golden Tornadoes also held a 36-23 rebounding advantage.
Westminster travels to Saint Vincent Saturday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
