Women's Soccer: Titans Pick Up First Win by Shutting Out Adrian

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 4-0 shutout of Adrian at home Saturday in the second day of the Westminster/Grove City Soccer Invitational. The Titans improve to 1-0-1 after tying Aurora on Saturday, while Adrian falls to 0-2 after losing to Grove City on Friday.

Four different Titans registered goals including two by reserves. Senior midfielder Kait Etzel-Hardman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored the first goal in the 17th minute on an assist from freshman Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township). Nee attempted five of the team's 18 shots, while the Titan defense limited the Bulldogs to three shots.

Etzel-Harman also assisted on the Titans' next goal, feeding sophomore reserve Lauren Graeser (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) with a breakaway goal just seconds before the first-half buzzer.

Senior Kristen Martin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored in the 75th minute and freshman reserve Hannah Schade (Timberlake, Ohio/Villa-Angela St. Joseph) netted her first career goal in the 81st minute.

Westminster sophomores Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) and Christine Clawges (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) combined for the shutout with thee and one saves, respectively.

Westminster returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 5, for a 2 p.m. kickoff at Pitt-Bradford.
