Women's Soccer: Titans to Host PAC Finals After Topping Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team advanced to the championship game of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament Tuesday with a 2-1 win over third-seeded Grove City (15-3-1) in the semifinal round.

The second-seeded Titans (14-4-2) will host the PAC finals Saturday against fourth-seeded Washington & Jefferson (9-10-2), which upset top-seeded Thomas More on Tuesday. The game time is yet to be determined.

Westminster scored early when freshman forward Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) buried a crossing pass from senior forward Mallory Bugel (Valencia, Pa./Mars) 40 seconds into the game.

Junior midfielder Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) tacked on an insurance goal on another Bugel assist in the 61st minute, which Westminster needed after Grove City's Stephanie Wild scored to make it 2-1 in the 70th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) made four saves for the Titans, who out-shot the Wolverines, 17-8, including five by Adams and four by Bugel.

Westminster is seeking its fifth PAC title in the last six years.
