NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team continues to stifle opponents as the Titans registered their 10th shutout of the season with a 6-0 win over Bethany at home Friday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
Senior forward Mallory Bugel (Valencia, Pa./Mars) and junior midfielder Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) each tallied a goal and an assist for Westminster.
Adams assisted on Bugel's goal in the 12th minute before Bugel returned the favor, feeding Adams for a break-away goal in the 25th minute. Adams now has a team-high 26 points (9 goals, 8 assists) for the season.
Sophomore midfielder Meredith Sabol (McKeesport, Pa./Serra Catholic) scored her first career goal in the 36th minute.
Second-half goal-scorers for the Titans were freshman forward Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) with her fifth of the season, senior defender Brittany McKee (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) with a header off a Kait Etzel-Hardman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) corner kick for her second of the year, and freshman forward Krista Goralczyk (Allison Park, Pa./Deer Lakes) with her second of the year.
Sophomore goalkeepers Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) and Christine Clawges (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) combined for the shutout with Mellott making the only two saves of the game.
Westminster improves to 10-2-2 on the season and 3-0 in the PAC, while the Bison drop to 2-7-4 and 2-2-1 in the league.
The Titans host Mount St. Joseph in a non-conference game Saturday at 11 a.m.
