NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team won its fourth straight match Wednesday with a 4-0 shutout over visiting Pitt-Bradford. The Titans have now averaged 5.5 goals per game during their four-match win streak.
The Titans (6-3-1) peppered the Panthers with 32 shots and four different players scored goals.
Junior forward Mallory Bugel (Valencia, Pa./Mars), who leads the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) in shot attempts this year with nearly five per game, registered a season-high nine shots including one for a goal in the ninth minute. The goal is Bugel's team-high sixth of the season.
Junior midfielder Kait Etzel-Hardman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored the Titans' second goal in the 38th minute on a corner kick.
Sophomore midfielder Abby Montgomery (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) scored her fourth goal of the season when she netted a 51st-minute goal on assists from senior Sarah Calderone (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and sophomore Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard).
Senior forward Christa Andamsarais (West Farmington, Ohio/Champion) scored the game's final goal and her second of the season in the 67th minute.
Freshmen goalkeepers Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) and Christine Clawges (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) combined for the shutout each making two saves.
Westminster plays its first PAC match that counts toward conference standings on Saturday, Oct. 7, when it hosts Washington & Jefferson.
