Women's Soccer: Westminster Holds Thiel Without a Shot in 6-0 PAC Win Wednesday

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team had no problem dispatching visiting Thiel Wednesday, 6-0, in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action, as the Titans held the Tomcats without a shot for the entire 90 minutes.

Westminster scored two goals in the first half on assists from junior Mallory Bugel (Valencia, Pa./Mars) as she fed sophomore Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) and sophomore Abby Montgomery (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) for goals in the fourth and 21st minutes, respectively.

Bugel wound up registering five points in the game as she netted a 32nd-minute goal on an assist from Sarah Calderone (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) and assisted on a Kait Etzel-Hardman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) goal in the 53rd minutes.

Montgomery also scored five points as she assisted on the first career goal by freshman Michelle Latta-Maloney (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) five minutes after potting her second goal of the game in the 47th and 42nd minutes, respectively.

Bugel and Adams are now tied for the PAC lead with nine goals apiece, while Montgomery now has six goals on the season.

Thiel's Sarah Echenoz made 29 saves as she was peppered with Titan 43 shots.

Westminster improves to 10-3-1 and 3-0 in the PAC, while Thiel drops to 1-13-1 overall and 0-4 in the PAC.
