NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's soccer team shutout Grove City, 4-0, Tuesday in a pivotal Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match behind a hat trick by sophomore midfielder Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard).
Adams scored three goals for her second hat trick and seventh goals of the season. She scored in the 18th, 27th and 63rd minutes, the first two on assists from junior forward Mallory Bugel (Valencia, Pa./Mars) and the latter on a helper from senior forward Christa Andamasaris (West Farmington, Ohio/Champion).
Bugel scored the Titans' other goal in the 58th minute on an assist from senior forward Sarah Calderone (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson). Adams, Bugel and Calderone are all tied for second in the PAC with a team-high seven goals.
Freshman goalkeeper Lindsay Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) made seven saves as she shared the shutout with classmate Christine Clawges (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township). The Titans out-shot the Wolverines, 22-12.
Westminster improves to 8-3-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC, while Grove City falls to 7-5 and 1-1 in the league.
