Westminster women finish seventh at Greenbrier Intercollegiate

WHITE SULFUR SPRINGS W.Va.--The Westminster women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Greenbrier Intercollegiate Invitational Tuesday.

The two-day, 10-team event was played on the par-72 Meadows Course, located on the historic Greenbrier Resort.

Lynchburg won the title with a team score of 587 (309-278). Southern Virginia, the host of the event, finished in second place with a 594 (325-269). Westminster finished with a 693, following up Monday's 357 with a 336 Tuesday. Southern Virginia's Sydney Richards was named medalist with a four-under 140 (72-68).

Sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tied for fifth place with a 157, shooting a 77 Tuesday after Monday's 80. Junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) tied for 18th with a 165 (88-77). Freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) was 42nd with a 186 (93-93) while seniors Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) and Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) tied for 43rd (187, 96-91).

Westminster had three freshmen players compete individually: Brooke Hart (Meadville, Pa., Meadville) was 48th (197, 98-99), Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) was 50th (202, 102-100) and Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) was 52nd (209, 113-96).

Up next:
Westminster will host its annual Spring Invitational Saturday at the Avalon Field Club at New Castle. The shotgun start is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
