Four earn All-Region honors

NEW ORLEANS--The Westminster women's indoor track and field team had four of its members earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors Friday.

The top eight individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-eight relay teams. The regions used (East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, West) match those used during the cross country season.

Seniors Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) and Missy Treharne (Burton, Ohio, Beaumont School), sophomore Grace Iwig (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield) and freshman Aubrey Rock (Butler, Pa., Butler) earned All-Mid Atlantic Region honors.

Rambo, a thrower, registered the fourth-best mark in the Mid-Atlantic this year. She won the shot put at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships on Feb. 26 with a top mark of 13.12 meters (43-00.50).

Westminster had three pole vaulters recognized.

Treharne had the second-best mark in the Mid-Atlantic this season. She won the event at the PAC Championships, clearing a personal-best 3.88 meters (12-08.75).

Iwig had the fifth-best mark in the Mid-Atlantic this year. She was second at the PAC Championships after clearing 3.68 meters (12-00.75).

Rock registered the top mark in the Mid-Atlantic this season. At Youngstown State's Icebreaker on Dec. 5, she cleared a personal-best 3.90 meters (12-09.50). Rock went on to earn All-America honors at the Division III Championships last Friday, finishing in a tie for eighth place after clearing 3.85 meters (12-07.50).

Up next:
With the outdoor season underway, Westminster will split its team Friday-Saturday, March 27-28 to compete at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational and the Tim Weaver Invitational, hosted by West Liberty.
