Rock earns All-America at Division III Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Freshman Aubrey Rock (Butler, Pa., Butler) earned All-America honors in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday afternoon. The two-day event is being held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama and hosted by Birmingham-Southern College and the City of Birmingham.

Rock and MIT senior Hailey Surace finished tied for eighth place. Both competitors cleared 3.85 meters (12-07.50) on their first attempts, respectively, and finished with five total misses. Rock entered the Championships tied with two others for the 13th-best seed mark.

Senior Missy Treharne (Burton, Ohio, Beaumont School) also competed in the pole vault. A No. 16 seed, she was one of two competitors to enter with a seed mark of 3.88 meters (12-08.75). Treharne won the event with a personal-best mark at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Feb. 26.

It was the first Division III Championships appearance for both pole vaulters.

Westminster's outdoor season gets underway March 13-14 at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. Hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach, the two-day event is being held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
