Titans suffer setback at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--Westminster was dealt a 105-84 Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) loss at W&J Saturday inside the Salvitti Family Gymnasium. 

Westminster fell to 13-8 overall and 8-4 in the conference. 

Senior Drew Weir (Salem, Ohio, Salem) scored a season-high 29 points, finishing 11-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. It was his fourth game scoring 20 or more points this season. Senior Mick Hergenrother (Canfield, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) added 14 points while senior Trey DePietro (Boardman, Ohio, Boardman) and freshman Nick Ryan (Warren, Ohio, John F. Kennedy) totaled 13 and 12 points, respectively. 

Alex Acosta led W&J (16-5, 9-3 PAC) with 19 points. 

Westminster trailed by nine, 46-37, at the half. Weir (16) and Hergenrother (11) combined for 27 first half points, going 10-of-16 from the field. The W&J lead swelled to as many as 28, 94-66, thanks to a blistering 70 percent (21-30) shooting in the second half. 

The Presidents turned the Titans' season-high 22 turnovers into 25 points. W&J's bench outscored its Westminster counterparts 33-14.

Westminster will head to Hiram (5-16, 1-11 PAC) Wednesday. Tipoff from Price Gymnasium is set for 7:30 p.m. The Terriers fell 84-82 at Waynesburg Saturday.
