Harrell named All-ECAC

DANBURY, Conn.--Westminster graduate student DJ Harrell (Cleveland, Ohio, East Technical) was recognized as an All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) selection Wednesday morning. 

A guard, Harrell was named Second Team All-ECAC. 

Harrell was named Second Team All-Region by D3hoops.com on March 16 and First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on March 4. He finished second in the league with a 21.0 points per game average. His .508 field goal percentage ranked fifth in the league while his 3.1 assists per game average was sixth. Harrell's 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio was third in the conference. His .718 free throw percentage was 10th in the league. Harrell scored 20 or more points 12 times this season and reached 30 or more points four times. He scored a season-high 36 points in an 88-82 overtime win against Grove City on Feb. 18. Harrell fired in 32 points in Westminster's win over Chatham in the semifinal round of the PAC Championship Tournament. 

Harrell was named the league's Player of the Week twice this season. 

Led by first-year head coach David Richards, Westminster entered the season as the No. 1 preseason choice in the PAC's North Division in the league's annual coaches' poll. The Titan wrapped up the season with a 19-9 overall record and secured the North Division's top seed in the PAC Championship Tournament with a 12-4 conference record. Westminster scored an 80-76 win over Saint Vincent in the quarterfinals before securing an 81-79 victory over Chatham, last year's conference champion, in the semifinal round. The Titans were edged 68-61 by W&J in the title game on Feb. 28.
