Westminster closes out regular season at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--Westminster's women's swimming and diving program was dealt a 148-118 loss by Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Grove City Thursday night. 

Westminster finished second and third in the 200 medley relay to open the meet. The 'A' team finished second with a time of 2 minutes, 3.37 seconds. Members included freshman Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield), junior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) and freshmen Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) and Rachel Rospierski (Erie, Pa., Fairview). The 'B' team was third (2:15.44) and included sophomore Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity), freshman Madison Alessio (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward), junior Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) and sophomore Isabella Summers (Hubbard, Ohio, Hubbard)

McClain was second in the 50 freestyle (26.79), 100 breaststroke (1:15.35), and 200 backstroke (2:22.53). Rospierski was second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.11) and 100 freestyle (1:00.62). Reinhart finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.50) and 200 freestyle (2:09.31) while O'Sullivan was second in the 200 IM (2:38.98).

Alessio was second in the 200 breaststroke (3:06.44) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:12.44) while Nappo finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:46.31) and third 100 in the breaststroke (1:19.08). Freshman Sarah Vitale (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:51.25) and third in the 200 IM (2:39.31) and freshman Emma Greene (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) was second in the 1000 freestyle (12:55.26) and third in the 50 freestyle (29.00).

Freshman Sophia Greene (Cabot, Pa., Knoch) finished third in the 100 freestyle (1:07.98), 200 butterfly (2:52.36) and 1000 freestyle (12:57.58). Turner was third in the 100 butterfly (1:10.47) and 200 freestyle (2:12.17) while Schrock finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:27.48) and 500 freestyle (6:14.58). Sophomore Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane) finished third in the 200 breaststroke (3:12.94).

Westminster finished the meet with second and third place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay. The 'A' team, made up of Rospierski, E. Greene, Gindlesperger and Reinhart, finished second (1:53.73). The 'B' team finished third (2:03.54) and included Vitale, Yurko, S. Greene and Summers.

Up Next:
Westminster will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the PAC Championships. The four-day event will once again be held at Grove City's James E. Longnecker Pool.
