Titans finish in fifth place at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio--The Westminster women's swimming and diving team finished in fifth place at the Oberlin Early Invitational Saturday.

The two-day, eight-team event was held at Carr Pool. Case Western Reserve won with a team score of 1271.50 while Ashland finished as the runner-up (868). Mount Union was third (582), Oberlin was fourth (478.50) and Westminster was fifth (224.50).

During the morning session, the 200 medley 'A' relay finished ninth (1:57.66). Members of the 'A' relay included sophomore Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield), freshmen Gaby Dilley (Appleton, Wis., Kimberly) and Dom Massie (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum) and senior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward).

The 800 freestyle 'A' and 'B' relays finished eighth (8:48.73) and ninth (9:31.50), respectively. Sophomore Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana), Massie, sophomore Bri Reinhart (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) and McClain made up the 'A' relay. Senior Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler), Dilley, freshman Bella Roeting (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) and sophomore Emma Greene (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) swam on the 'B' relay. 

Dilley registered a seventh-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.10). Nappo tied for 11th in the 400 IM (5:24.34). McClain finished 11th in the 200 freestyle (2:07.38).

Freshman Hannah Ely (York Haven, Pa., Red Land) and Riley Stallbaum (Lakewood, Ohio, Lakewood) finished fifth and eighth, respectively, on the three-meter board. Ely finished with score of 167.70 while Stallbaum registered a score of 133.10. On the one-meter board, Ely was sixth (153.65) and Stallbaum was ninth (129.75). 

In the evening session, McClain posted a runner-up finish in the 1650 freestyle (18:27.88). Dilley finished eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.38) while Schrock was 11th in the 200 backstroke (2:35.95). Roeting finished 14th in the 1650 freestyle (21:19.93). Nappo was 15th in the 200 butterfly (2:38.68) while Turner finished 16th in the butterfly (2:43.60). Freshman Mauri Stafford (Fairview, Pa., Fairview) was 16th in the 200 breaststroke (2:57.87). 

Westminster capped the night with a 12th-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:59.32). Members of the 'A' team included McClain, Nappo, freshman Josie Graper (Sarver, Pa., Knoch) and Massie. 

Up next:
Westminster will participate in the Clarion Fall Diving Classic next Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Waldo S. Tippin Natatorium. Events will begin at 12 p.m.
