Westminster opens season at Oberlin

McClain 10th in 500 free

OBERLIN, Ohio--The Westminster women's swimming and diving team began its 2026-27 season Friday evening at Oberlin's Early Invitational. The two-day event is being held inside the Carr Pool.

Five events were contested during Friday's single session. Westminster is sixth in the eight-team field with 45 points. Case Western Reserve leads the team scoring with 385 points.

The 200 freestyle 'A' relay was 11th (1:46.67). Members of the 'A' relay were senior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) and freshmen Marlaina McCaffrey (Rector, Pa., Ligonier Valley), Kelsi Lott (Leechburg, Pa., Kiski) was 21st (5:47.14) and Dom Massie (Pittsburgh, Pa., Plum).

The 400 medley 'A' relay finished 11th (4:23.19). The 'A' relay included sophomore Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield), freshman Gaby Dilley (Appleton, Wis., Kimberly), Massie and McClain.

McClain finished 10th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:32.90 while Lott was 21st (5:47.14). Sophomore Bri Reinhart (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny) was 20th in the 200 IM (2:28.49) and sophomore Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) was 22nd (2:30.55). Massie was 22nd in the 50 freestyle (26.40).

Up next:
On Saturday, seven events will be contested during the 10 a.m. session, with diving scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. The evening session will begin at 4:30 p.m. with six additional events contested.
