Men's lacrosse clipped at home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's lacrosse program fell to visiting DePauw 6-5 Saturday afternoon at the UPMC Sports Complex.

Sophomore Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) scored off an assist from freshman Gianni DiSora (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) to stretch Westminster's lead to two, 5-3, with just over 12 minutes left before DePauw fired in the game's final three goals to secure the win. Kam Shiver's goal with 5:25 to go proved to be the game-winner.

Westminster (1-3) senior Kyler Nigliazzo (Montgomery, Texas, Magnolia West) finished with one goal and one assist. Five different players scored for the Titans.

Senior Jahiem Hawkins (Huntington Station, N.Y., Huntington) and freshman Aiden Renick (Sarasota, Fla., Riverview) finished with two ground balls and two caused turnovers apiece. Freshman Adam Teixera (Sparta, N.J., Sparta) had five ground balls while senior Jorden Tate (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) made 13 saves.

Westminster outshot DePauw 45-33 and finished with a 23-19 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster went 26-of-28 on clears while DePauw went 27-of-32.

Westminster hosts Muskingum (2-0) Wednesday. The opening faceoff from the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.
